Timothy Knight, president PPC Fraser Valley Regional Association
Chilliwack BC Dec 23, 2023
Merry Christmas to fellow Canadians living in the soon-to-be-redrawn electoral districts of Chilliwack-Hope, Mission-Matsqui-Abbotsford, and Abbotsford-South Langley.
The Story So Far
Between the 2019 election and today, candidates have moved into and out of the challenging blood-sport arena of politics. Today new candidates have answered the call to wear the mantle as a candidate for the People's Party of Canada. Below is a brief history of the PPC candidates in the Fraser Valley since the start of the party not five years ago.
In Mission-Matsqui-Fraser Canyon, Nick Csaszar served as candidate in 2019, and came back as candidate of record (2019) in 2022, but has stepped down for health and family. In the 2021 election, Tyler Niles performed well as the PPC candidate and afterwards stepped down so that he and his young family could move on to take advantage of his Red Seal in heavy mechanics in the interior.
In Abbotsford, Locke Duncan served as the PPC candidate in a difficult campaign in 2019. Since then, Kevin Sinclair, as the candidate on record since the 2021 election, built on Locke's work. This summer Kevin moved on to continue his previous plans.
In Chilliwack-Hope, Rob Bogunovic having served in both the 2019 and 2021 elections, afterwards stepped down to be with with his new wife and infant son and to participate in other ventures.
Obstacles are for Overcoming
It was a difficult period for a brand new federal party that saw two federal elections almost back-to-back, wherein the first saw active interference from media and opponents who outright shrouded the party from the general population and blocked debate participation.
The second election was called during the abuses of the COVID mandates, making the call to freedom from tyranny even more imperative. But, once again, active interference from media and opponents made every vote a hard-fought victory. Candidates and their families lived under great political and media pressure. We are grateful for their service and sacrifices. We are a success today because we rode on the shoulders of these giants.
In 2021 we saw our numbers at the voting stations double from an average of 3.5% across the three electoral districts of Chilliwack-Hope, Mission-Matsqui-Fraser Canyon, and Abbotsford to over 7% in each! Your commitment to freedom, respect, fairness, and responsibility made this possible.
Champions Rise
Now we step into 2024 with two newly-acclaimed candidates. For Chilliwack-Hope we welcome Elizabeth Drocholl who has been an active candidate applicant for Chilliwack-Hope since Autumn of 2022.
And from the new national candidate application program we are pleased to welcome Jeff Galbraith who has already begun making relationships in his newly redrawn electoral district of Mission-Matsqui-Abbotsford.
The seat for the candidate representing the new district of Abbotsford-South Langley is currently vacant. If you are interested please contact us.
Additionally, Elizabeth and Jeff have joined the PPC Fraser Valley Regional Association board as directors at large, pending the writ of the next federal election, which we expect will take place in the Autumn of 2025.
Mapping Success
As of April 2024, Elections Canada's new electoral district redistribution becomes law. The current maps for Chilliwack-Hope, Mission-Matsqui-Fraser Canyon, and Abbotsford will become the soon-to-be-redrawn electoral districts of Chilliwack-Hope, Mission-Matsqui-Abbotsford, and Abbotsford-South Langley.
We look forward to connecting Jeff and Elizabeth with you in your community regularly beginning in mid-January with the launch of Operation: Plus One. This is a membership campaign that will start with renewing previous supporters with expired memberships. Then we will actively participate in your community to equip you to recruit new members to the People's Party of Canada from your circles. We will help each member bring their X to the voting station... Plus One, a new member that you recruited. How will we do this effectively?
A critical part of Operation: Plus One, we are looking for district directors in east Abbotsford (1), west Abbotsford (1), south Langley (1), Mission (1), Chilliwack (1), Hope (1), and Agassiz/Harrison (1). District directors will be nominated to sit on the Fraser Valley Regional Association board as of the 2024 FVRA AGM. District directors will report to the board and coordinate with their local candidates, leading volunteer activities and awareness campaigns up to and including the next general election. If you have questions or are interested in committing to such a role please contact your candidate. Operation: Plus One details will be made available on this website for your feedback, support and participation starting in mid-January 2024.
We Have a Cunning Plan
Our goal for 2024 is to double our active membership. And then we will double again in 2025. According to our statistics, one active member is equal to 20 votes! If every member was able to persuade one person to become a member of the People's Party of Canada we could see our total votes across all three districts go from 12,000 in 2021 to 60,000 in 2025. Realistic target simulations based on votes counted from 2021 (7% low) jump to more than double (15%) at the next election. Simply by helping you recruit one new member.
Remember one active member equals 20 votes! It's time to send not one, not two, but three PPC candidates to Parliament Hill as your duly elected representative Members of Parliament.
Join us! Let's enter 2024 with refreshed vigour and sharpened focus. Renew your membership to 2025. Sign a friend - or a frenemy - up for the next two years.
This Christmas we are reminded that freedom from oppression is the greatest gift. We pray for you and your family to have a joyful holiday season.
God bless us, every one!
